In late 2014, the once popular restaurant Roses was replaced by Terrazzo as they moved to another location. Nothing much has changed though, seeing as the new establishment didn’t consider redecorating or changing the menu. So, Port Harcourt Crescent welcomed yet another Nigerian restaurant to the family.

Terrazzo restaurant Abuja

At Terrazzo, you get Nigerian food that tastes like a lot of effort went into making it taste as local as possible. Management swears only the most authentic local ingredients are used in preparing the meals, and it would be hard to argue with them. The food really does taste like it was made at home. Another great item on the menu is the Barbeque chicken, which is perfectly roasted and seasoned to the bone. Unfortunately, with all the good intentions, you will only get Yam Poundo (Flour) and not actual pounded yam her. Sorry. But they serve other swallows too, so yay!

The only major change to the restaurant is the creation of an outdoor dining area similar to what Ibiza has. Customers can now choose to either dine indoors or outside, in an area specially constructed space similar to a pavilion. There’s also a large space available in the compound for events or guests who just want to sit out. This space also features a large projector screen which comes in handy when a sports game is on; customers can sit out with a drink and enjoy a game which kind of makes the restaurant a tiny bit of a sports bar as well.

native foods in Abuja

Generally speaking, the restaurant has a comfortable atmosphere, especially if you’re eating inside the building. You won’t be bothered by waiters trooping around as the serving area is actually located outside allowing you to order your food on your way in, and then proceeding inside to wait to enjoy a nice, quiet meal. Although, a quiet meal may not be an option f you choose to have dinner here. Like most of Gimbiya street, Terrazzo comes alive in the night time. Visiting this establishment when the sun sets, you’ll be welcomed by a crowd of loud, beer guzzling, sports loving groups of men, all speaking their native dialects, all clamoring to be heard over the next group.

If you enjoy a combination of large outdoor crowds, beer, sports, and BBQ, then you might get quite a trip from a night out at Terrazzo. – No. 11, Port Harcourt Crescent, Gimbiya Street, Abuja.
