Terminus Roundabout, Jos

The Jos terminus roundabout is one of the most notable landmarks in the city of Jos. This iconic structure is made up of four columns surrounding a cylindrical-shaped column. Situated where two famous roads/ streets ( Ahmadu Bello way and Tafawa Balewa street) meet, this is arguably the busiest spot in the whole of Jos town.
Access to this roundabout from any part of Jos is very straight forward, convenient and direct. To get to this place from any part of the Jos metropolis, a commuter can immediately arrive at the Jos terminus by simply telling a cab/tricycle rider that he/she is going to ‘terminus’. Cabs and tricycles are the more common vehicles to ply the route leading to and from the Jos terminus. The cost of your fare would depend on your distance from the terminus.
Around the roundabout are several businesses and organisations such as Zenith Bank, Diamond Bank, First bank, Mr Biggs, ECWA, Good News church, etc.
Since the Jos crisis started in 2001 and the subsequent fire that destroyed the Jos Main market a year later, the terminus roundabout has become a temporary but thriving market for traders displaced by the crisis. These traders have erected makeshift stalls while others display their goods on the ground.
All efforts by the government to remove them from the roundabout and its environs have proven abortive. The traders always come back after the heat has died down.
Apart from traders, the activities of commercial transporters have also contributed to the rowdy nature of the area. Tricycles and taxi cabs use most parts of the area as their parks. One benefit of these illegal parks to commuters is that you can get a taxi or tricycle from here to any part of Jos.
