The beach is always an awesome place to go have some fun and relax. So if you’re trying to decide where to go, why not Tarkwa Bay? Tarkwa Bay is a beautiful sheltered man made beach which is located along the shores of the Lagos Harbour. It overlooks the atlantic and the water here is much calmer than any other place overlooking the atlantic in Lagos which is one of the many unique features of this beach.

As serene as an environment could get, one cannot help but be awed by the beauty of nature. The beach is the perfect location for social gatherings with both family and friends, also very safe for children. The area around the beach(Tarkwa) is a residential area and most of the residents take up selling goods to tourists who come to the beach. Thus, there are a variety of goodies to be bought which include fruits, snacks, suya, tropical drinks; both alcoholic and non-alcoholic and so on.

There are several trees planted on the beach to provide shade from the scorching sun which means you can relax under the shade and not worry about getting sun-burned. Deck chairs and tents are made available for rental to visitors to make the stay on the beach a more comfortable one.

Water sports are commonly engaged in, sports such as jet skiing, water skiing, surfing amongst others; equipments for any of these sports can be rented from the residents of the area too. The beach is layered with very fine sand which makes walking and lying down comfortable. The residents also provide other side attractions for the entertainment of tourists. Relax and enjoy the beautiful view of the water, not just the view, ship lovers can watch out for the arrival and mooring of ships at the Lagos Harbour.

Go swimming and dipping in the water, play water games with friends and family, relish in the sweet natural breeze all around the beach, take long(romantic or otherwise) walks on the beach or lay down on the fine sand and admire the breath taking environment, have parties, mingle and just have a lot of fun, that’s all the beach asks of you, to have fun. Contemporary Nigerian music can also be heard blasting from nearby speakers regularly. It’s never a dull moment at the Tarkwa bay beach, especially on public holidays and weekends.

The beach is located at Lekki Epe Expressway Jetty, Victoria Island, Lagos. The only means of locating the beach is by boat from Tarzan Jetty at Maroko or from Falomo bridge at Victoria Island.
