December is always an exciting month in Calabar when the annual Calabar Carnival attracts thousands of people to it. We often forget to explore the city that has so many stunning places because we are lost in the world of parades. It is only two days that we see these parades out of the 32 days the carnival is hosted. What this means is you can take out some time out in the midst of the activities and explore the following places.

Kwa Falls

In 2002, this fall was used as a backdrop during the Miss World photoshoot. This is a stunning tourist site where you can spend some time. The Kwa Falls are seen flowing slowly to meet the Great Kwa River. From this river, it moves on to empty itself into the estuary. You can hike here, or even kayak. You can see wildlife like monkeys in their habitat. Bring your new friends here and have the fun of your life during the Calabar Carnival.

Toturga Island

There are lots of hangouts in Calabar, but the Toturga Island is one of the finest. You may love to spend time with your family here. You can watch the sea, the serenity is bliss, while the spot is perfect for picnicking and relaxing. Coming to this island would make your stay in Calabar very memorable.

Jasper 131

You can club hard during the Calabar Carnival at Jasper 131. This is one of the famous club houses in the city. Standing around and not dancing can make you dull, so a little time at the Jasper 131 would help you unwind.

Akpabuyo Beach

One place you won’t want to miss when you are here for the Calabar Carnival is the beach situated at Akpanuyo. This place has history. It was one of those places the Portuguese used to transporting slaves. You can have a lovely moment here with friends, and reflect and discuss days when slave trade was the order of the day.

There are other places like the Tinapa Resort and many more where you can have a great time. The carnival parade is just one of the things that can make your days in Calabar exciting. However, you should not rob yourself of the opportunity of seeing some stunning places in Calabar. Try to do a lot of things here because the carnival happens only once a year.
