Rough Cities to Raise Kids in Nigeria

There are cities most Nigerians may not find appropriate to start family in Nigeria. It is not that these cities do not have bright kids or kids who win international awards, but it’s because of the environment. It is either these cities are associated with violence or the crime rate in such a city is on the high side. We have listed some of these cities we think that are rough to raise kids.
Makurdi
The capital of Benue State, Makurdi has been associated with heavy cultist activities over the years. It all begins from the tertiary institutions where the cults are rampant. There is always this fear that a kid could abandon the good ways of the family to kiss the door of the devil. Sometimes, these evil men are seen littered in lifeless bodies.
Warri
Many believe that the average Warri child is wild – there are many reasons for this. Firstly, the Pidgin English is more on the profane side, and there is this struggle for survival. A lot of people raised below the poverty line are often hard to deal with. The environment is fused with the struggle to rise above, and sometimes the ways to get out of aren’t the most humble.
Maiduguri
With constant Boko Haram attacks, this isn’t a good one. It seems like suicide to raise kids here without fear of losing them any minute. Maiduguri before now was a great place to raise kids – but not any longer. The weather is harsh and is not a great one for kids who may fall prey to debilitating diseases.
Onitsha
Onitsha was once notorious for its hardened criminals. Blessed with one of the biggest markets in West Africa, the city has this flair for business. A lot of the boys here are often market guys who have the tongues of business and sometimes, education is lost in the bid to get material things. The crime rate here is always fluctuating, it probably isn’t kid friendly.
Lagos
We must not forget the center of all shortcuts – Lagos. Lagos is a very beautiful place that is divided into different regions. Some places like the Island – Ikoyi, Lekki, and other places are cool, but there are many slums where kids should not be raised in the first place. It does not mean that some of these quiet places are 100% safe. Lagos will always be Lagos.
