Every October 1st, there is hardly a part of Nigeria that is not painted green-white-green in the celebration of the independence of the country. This date is always a significant one and every local, state and the federal government ensures that there is something to celebrate about Nigeria. The good news is that it is public holiday and everyone is at home and has something to do to about becoming free from colonial rule so many years ago. There are cities in Nigeria that the celebration of independence is loud and clear with different activities.
Abuja
The first place where the celebration begins and is at its best is in Abuja, the capital of Nigeria. The match pasts, parades, the seminars, talk shows, parties, breaking grounds and so many activities envelope Abuja that an international visitor will be left stunned. There is love in the air and the celebration fever is so contagious that most Nigerians are seen dressed in their green-white-green attires. It is always who is the best dresser on this very day.

Calabar does not sleep in any special event in the country. The noise is always much and the air is filled with celebration during the celebration. Kids are allowed to see some of the finest parts of the city and for the activities, there is no where that they rather be than in Calabar on October 1st.
