Overlooked Tourist Attractions in Nigeria

Some amazing tourist attraction sites in Nigeria are overlooked for different reasons. These tourist attractions are awesome and have a lot of significance to the history of the places they are found. Take for instance the famous Olumo Rock in Abeokuta – a lot of us know about this rock but only a few of us have visited it. What may be the reason for this? We may not find it that exciting to see because it is a rock. We have listed some places for you to see and visit when you are free.

Wase Rock

Wase Rock looks like a dome shaped rock. If you are looking to see pelican birds, you will see them here. Wase Rock is located in Jos in a little town called Wase Town. This is a highland that rises 350 meters above the sea level. You often see geologists, mountaineers, and bird watchers coming here to do various things.

Bida Brass Works

The Bida Brass Works are famous in Nigeria – yet, not everyone has come to see what is happening here. The brass products are used for a lot of things including decoration purposes. You can come here and buy souvenirs. It would interest you to know that some of these brass work is very affordable. Bida is in Niger State.

Olumo Rock, Abeokuta

Granite rocks form this ancient rock that has become a landmark in Ogun State. Olumo Rock is in Abeokuta. The Egba people strongly believe that there is a shrine on this rock that protects them. Annually, sacrifices are made here to the local deity. It stands 137 meters above the sea level and has a lot of exciting places in it.

Idanre Hills

Idanre Hills is another overlooked tourist site situated at Idare/Ifedore local government Area of Ondo state. The hills are stunning and have six hundred steps you need to climb to get to the top. The reward of climbing here is a magnificent view of the ancient castles built by nature.

Holy Apostles Community, Aiyetoro

This is a special place to visit. This community was formed in 1945 at a coastal town called Aiyetoro in Akure. The community practices a free religion and communal ownership of their properties. The Oba in this community is also the chief priest. This place is like a haven to a lot of people who come here for the first time.
