My NYSC Experience
My funniest/interesting story about travelling…..
During my NYSC service year some 10yrs ago, I boarded one of the luxurious buses going to Kano from Iddo park, Lagos at about 8:00pm on this faithful day. We left the park at exactly 9:15pm and proceeded on our journey. Shortly after we passed the RCCG camp on Lagos-Ibadan expressway, a man stood up and walked up to the driver and spoke to him quietly. The driver flared up at once yelling and cursing the man; you be thief! ‘We spend almost 2hrs for park, you nor shit, you come dey follow me talk nonsense for here; I nor go stop for you; you wan rob us!’ The man (passenger) simply walked back to his sit, picked up his bottle of water and walked back to the exit door. Few seconds later, all the passengers at the back near the exit door got up and started running towards the driver. What happened? The man did it right in the bus!
At the end of it all, the driver had to stop in order to clean up the mess and of course, over 40mins was wasted in the process. I’m sure we wouldn’t have spent more than 10mins if the driver had stopped for that passenger initially.
