Mr Bigg's, Enugu.

As we all know, Mr Biggs was the first popular eatery in Nigeria and it so much overwhelmed the market then that it took hardwork and innovation for others competitors to come up. In fact anyone who buys from Mr Biggs in their early days is a rich man.

This spot bore exactly the same design to other Mr Biggs eateries around the country. The accompanying Village Kitchen remained conspicuous, handing out African dishes, especially Igbo foods, to customers. One can be rest assured that the condition of preparing the foods here is of NAFDAC Approval standard, only the taste might be a subject of disapproval for those who are too sensitive to the local way of preparing their food. Ice-cream, juices and varieties of soft drinks and other delectable snacks are proudly displayed from the lighted show-glasses, just point at your choices and you get it either in a take-away pack or as eat-in.

Whenever the school, University of Nigeria, is in session, it is so obvious the number of those going on hangouts will be on the high side- ranging from lovebirds wanting for a time out, to businessmen meeting over a light meal of garnished rice or snacks, to hobbyists just wanting to have a feel of a cool environment to take pictures, the eatery always has visitors trooping in from morning till late evening.

It is however also noticeable how expensive a meal is here compared to alternatives some potential customers would consider from local restaurants; they would rather buy a cheap snack to satisfy their hunger. Even artisans, who are plentiful here, would prefer to get their cheap local meals from wheel-barrow food hawkers. Perhaps this is the reason why in the whole of Nsukka, I doubt if there is another ‘classy’ and popular eatery, like the ones in Lagos, other than this one here in Enugu.
