Ibadan Bowen Tower

Have you been to Bowen Memorial Tower, Ibadan? This monument was designed by Engineer Robert Taffy Jones, the provincial engineer who also designed the famous Mapo Hall. Bower’s Tower is a memorial of the colonial residency of a representative of the British government whose era ushered in peace to the South-Western region of modern Nigeria, after a decade of warfare. It is located on the summit of Oke-Are, the highest hill in Ibadan from which one enjoys a commanding view of the city. Bower’s Tower is 60 feet high and 11 feet square with two entrances and a spiral staircase. This location serves as site of tourism for both old and young individuals of the society, with an event arena close to the tower.
Tourists in Ibadan flock here to enjoy an aesthetic view of all neighbouring areas.
