Hotels.ng Gives Out T-shirts To Yaba Bus Conductors

So we decided to do something totally rad today in Yaba. Just for the heck of it, we went out with a bunch of hotels.ng T-shirts and stormed the bus parks at Jibowu and Yaba respectively. Because, only a few weeks ago, in one of our Growth sessions at the office, where we generally talk about cool stuff and whatnot, someone (not Justin) came up with this idea of handing out T-shirts to bus conductors in the Yaba area. While everyone was mulling the idea over and kind of thinking, “well played, dude, we all get company T-shirts!â€, Mark was like, alright guys, let’s do it.
Fast forward to today. We head out, a selected team of five, in the company car and decided we’d make our first stop at Jibowu bus stop. We arrive and park our car about 50 yards away from the sea of yellow buses at the park. As soon as we get down and unpack the shirts from the trunk of the car, they came to us. The bus conductors and drivers, that is - and maybe even the entire population north of the Atlantic.
It got pretty feisty at some point, with a couple of tussles and near-fights for the shirts. As we handed out the shirts and more people kept coming, I bet everyone in the team was thinking along the lines of, ‘Hey, this is really happening!’ Thankfully, things didn’t spiral out of control, despite a few guys who were spoiling for a fight. Amidst the rowdiness, a couple of the conductors were cool enough to don the shirts and pose for some pictures. They were all pretty psyched and it was good to have been a part of that. You had to be there.
After a while we were able to pull away from the crowd and drive off to Yaba for the next round. Now, the guys in Yaba were a bit more laid back when they saw us, because they’re chill like that. Or maybe it’s because we changed our strategy this time. We pulled over at a good 200 yards from the park and just strolled out to meet them on foot, carrying the shirts with us. We might even have passed off as some overdressed T-shirt vendors to the Yaba crowd. Our disguise only lasted so long before one of the drivers figured out what was going on and came over with his colleagues.
The Yaba bus conductors and drivers weren’t nearly as rowdy as the Jibowu lot but they thronged us nonetheless. We handed out the shirts and after a while just watched them pass it around to each other like good comrades and whatnot. Then after the little paparazzi moment, we headed back to the car and made straight for the office. We could already see a couple of the bus drivers and conductors moving around in the deep sky blue T-shirts and it felt good.
To everyone sitting close to any of the conductors donning these cute hotels.ng T-shirts in the bus today and in the next couple of days, you can rest easy knowing that you don’t have to hold your breath when they lean close to take that money from you. You’re welcome.
