University of Ibadan

The first time you come to Ibadan, it may portray an ancient city and leave you wondering how vibrant it can be. It does not take time for this city to come alive with its social activities and excitement. The city is the country’s third largest city, and it is the capital of Oyo State. It is historically significant in the making of Nigeria. Today, Ibadan is able to fuse modern lifestyle to its traditional setting.

Ibadan comes alive on the weekends with parties happening across the city. The colourful attires of different celebrants give the city a constant upbeat vibe. There are many places to have a great time here in the city.

Olorunkole

Olorunkole is a historic location that attracts. The locals say an angel visited this mountainous area and left footprint on it. It is now a religious area for people who come to offer prayers or offerings. This is a place to picnic with family or friends.

The Ibadan Museum

This museum would always come up among the many places to visit when you are in the city. There are numerous prehistoric carvings made out of bronze on display. You can see a lot of things used in the ancient city during the pre-colonial and colonial era.

The University of Ibadan

Yes, it is an academic environment – but it is still a good place to visit. There are so many things to do in the university, especially during the evenings. Students are seen competing against each other in different healthy games. You can take a peaceful stroll, write in any of the love gardens, or even make some new friends.

The Zoological Garden

The Zoological Garden is inside the university. You will see exotic plants you may have never seen in your life before. It is well taken care of making it neat and attractive. If you love flowers, you should come here.

The Bower Memorial Tower

At the Bower Memorial Tower, you can enjoy the aesthetic view of Ibadan’s landscape and even neighbouring cities. It is the highest point in the city.
At the Government House in Agodi, you can find some of the finest monuments in the city. It’s the perfect place for selfies.

Ibadan is not spared when it comes to great meals. Amala and ewedu is a popular meal here. This does not mean you cannot get other local delicacies here. There are luxury and budget hotels to serve you. Why not take a trip to this quiet city and have an amazing time?
