Breaking: EFCC Invites Goodluck Jonathan For Questioning?
Reports from the Herald Newspaper state that more matters are arising from the now-sour $2bn arms purchase. The EFCC is now pursuing a new lead that indicates that the loot recovered from former military leader of Nigeria, Sani Abacha may have been diverted with the arms purchase as a cover.
The allegation currently in the air is that the looted funds were used to fund the PDP’s 2015 campaign and other extra-budgetary expenses.
Former president of Nigeria Goodluck Jonathan is not being left out of this as we read that the EFCC has now contacted him to answer a few questions about his role in the diversion of the arms funds.Â
The Herald’s source said: “We are looking into fresh clues that apart from the $2 billion, some looted funds recovered from the Abachas were also diverted into the arms purchase and other security-related needs.
“There are different clues we are probing. While some alleged that the looted funds were domiciled in the ONSA, others claimed that the funds were directly managed by the Presidency.
“We may check records at the Federal Ministry of Finance accordingly on Abacha loot.â€
