*NNEWI, ANAMBRA – Reports from Today.ng indicate that more than 7,000 IPOB (Indigenous People of Biafra) members have shut down the markets and all commercial activities in Nnewi in Anambra as a show of support for Nnamdi Kanu, the director of the controversial Radio Biafra. Nnamdi kanu has been arrested and held in custody by the DSS for over a month now. *

The IPOB members rallied around from Onitsha, Asaba, Akwa-Etiti, Imo, Enugu and several other states and met at Nnewi where they marched for post-humous blessings from the late Ikemba Nnewi, Dim Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu.

The IPOB has stated that this drive is a direct threat to the FB to release Kanu, who is expected to be in court later today.

“IPOB is looking up to the international community including the United States, Russia, France and every other countries excluding Britain which is the enemy of Biafra. We are not talking about Igbo presidency; we are talking about an independent nation of Biafra. So, we are looking up to world leaders to help us actualize Biafra,” said Emeka Onwane, one of the leaders of the march.

Traders have however frowned at this, saying that while the cause the IPOB is fighting for may be just, they fear that the group has been infiltrated by miscreants looking to shake things up for their own political agenda.
