Who even told us that the villages in Nigeria have become desolate places? It may shock you to know that most of the Nigerian villages are becoming tourist hubs. The reason for this is simple, some hidden treasures of villages are been made open to the public and the cultural heritage of the people are modified to suit the modern man. However, these are not what we are going to talk about today. We are looking at the 10 reasons Nigerians prefer villages to megacities in the country.

The Palm wine joint

No village is complete without a palm wine joint. This is what we hardly find in towns. It is at these palm wine joints that we hear so many crazy stories from the lips of drunken men. If you want to laugh, come here and you will forget your worries as you hear some type of news that cannot be heard in any part of the world.

The farm

We may have abandoned farming but those in the village still wake each morning to visit distant farms. Have you dreamed of fabled stories where you cross rivers and climb hills, it is only on your way to the farm that you may encounter such.

The simple life

Life is too simple in the village. You wake up with little life worries, even if your cell phone is off, it does not matter because everyone is close to everyone. This is why we see most of them live for many years before dying.

The Sunday rice

A lot of us are tired of rice but not the Sunday rice for the villagers. Sunday rice in the village is a big deal and most of the kids are always wishing that every day is Sunday. The megacities have little concern for such stuff.

Decency

Thou shall not dress indecently if you are in the village. The village has become one institution where morals are held in high regards compared to the megacities like Lagos and Abuja where you can dress as you wish.

Maintenance of Heritage

The megacities have museums but the villages have the natural places where a lot of the Nigeria’s heritages are preserved.

No bill to pay

What are the things that you think that you can pay for in the village? A lot of bills that the megacities present to its residents cannot be found in the villages.

Brother’s Keepers

Everyone wants to know what is happening to the next person unlike in the megacities where you may not even know the next neighbour. Things hardly happen without other people knowing what went wrong.

Security and Safety

There are no policemen patrolling the villages unlike the town where the security of the place must be handled by the police. The local guards have made it possible for safety and security lives and properties to be taken care of.

Orderliness

There are no rushing to anywhere, no noisy sirens, no traffic gridlock and no disorder of any kind in the villages. Once in a blue moon, there may be dramas and that is it for many months to come.
