About Lagos State University
Lagos State University popularly called “LASU” is a non-profit public higher institution of learning established in 1983 by the Lagos State Government. It was established to fill the void of the dearth in the education sector as that the time, thereby facilitating the advancement of learning and the establishment of academic excellence. The State University seeks to utilize all resources at its disposal to provide every deserving applicant a chance to further his/her education, instilling in each individual strict principles and the pursuit of truth and character.
LASU operates a multi-campus and collegiate system with four fully owned campus located at strategic locations in the state. These campuses include, the main campus in Ojo which houses all administrative buildings, halls of residence and facilities except the faculties of Engineering and Agriculture, located in Epe (Epe Campus), the Epe Campus is also home to the school’s pre-degree programme. Other campuses are located in Surulere and Ikeja.
The University offers courses at Diploma, Undergraduate and Postgraduate levels, leading to officially recognized higher education degree such as Bachelor, Master, and Doctorate degrees. The courses offered are accredited by the National Universities Commission (NUC) and other relevant professional bodies. LASU is a relatively large co-educational higher institution with an enrollment range of 15,000-20,000 students. Currently, the student population in the University is estimated at 35,000.
LASU has a selective admission policy by entrance examination, and caters for its large student population, providing academic and non-academic facilities such as lecture halls, faculty buildings, halls of residence, conference halls, sports facilities, among others.
Recent University ranking and review by 4ic.org shows that LASU currently ranks as the 15th best University in Nigeria, and 4947 in the world.

Lagos State University Admission Requirements
There are a lot of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes that you can study at LASU. Although the admission requirements may differ in faculties and programmes, there are still some general requirements that you have to be familiar with if you are thinking of pursuing an academic career at the University. Before listing these requirements, it's advisable that you visit the institution regularly, or more conveniently go through the school’s website for precise details on admission requirement by faculties, the sale of application forms, date of entrance examination and lots more.
As a prospective applicant, wishing to enroll for the Pre-degree/Diploma programme at the Institution, you must have your complete O’Level result with at least 3 credit passes. The subjects passed should include Mathematics and English.
For Prospective Undergraduates:
As a prospective candidate seeking admission in the Lagos State University, its advisable that you go through specific admission requirements for the courses offered in the institution on the JAMB website, or the UTME Brochure published every year. Asides this, here are some general requirements:
You are required to have at least 5 credit passes in your O’level result or its equivalent at no more than two sittings. The subjects passed should include English Language, Mathematics, and any other three, based on the subject combination for your desired course of study.
You must register for JAMB, sit for the examination, and attain the prescribed JAMB cut-off mark for your course. This would make you eligible to;
Sit for the Post-UTME examination organized by the institution. Bear in mind that you must attain the exact Post-UTME cut-off mark or preferably score higher so as to increase your chances of getting admitted.
If successful, your name will come out on the admission list released by LASU and you’ll be informed of subsequent steps to take.
Please note that application forms for the 2017/2018 academic session are currently closed. The admission list for the 2017/2018 academic session has been released, and academic activities at the institution are in full swing. For Prospective Postgraduates
LASU offers postgraduate programmes at PGD, Masters, and Ph.D. levels. The courses offered in these levels are relatively the similar offered at the Undergraduate level. The admission requirements for PG students at the institution isn’t so different from the general requirements requested in other universities. These requirements may include, obtaining 5 credit passes in SSCE/GCE or other equivalents, having a Bachelor degree with a minimum of Second Class Lower Division for PGD and Masters students or having a Masters degree with a weighted average score of 60% for Ph.D. programmes.
Asides all these, you may be requested to write an entrance examination depending on your proposed programme. Other requirements may also include, NYSC Discharge Certificate/ Exemption letter, and also your academic transcript.
