Babcock University was established in 1999, Built by Seventh-day Adventist Church in 1999.

About Babcock University

Babcock University popularly called BU was named after David C. Babcock, an American missionary who pioneered the works of the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Nigeria. Babcock a co-educational Seventh-day Adventist Church University was formerly established as a senior college (Adventist College of West Africa) in September 1959. In 1999, the University was recognized as one of the first three (3) private Universities in the Country, accredited by the National Universities Commission (NUC), and other accreditation bodies. BU started off with it’s first batch of 1,006 students in its first year, commencing with three (3) faculties which later became schools, and over the years, more schools, including a postgraduate school which took off in 2010, and a medical school in 2012. The University boasts of departmental upgrades and addition of new programmes due to the increase in current market demand, and the delivery of maximum security to both students and staff of the institution.
Babcock University is located at Ilishan-Remo, Off Sagamu-Benin Expressway, Ogun state, Nigeria. The University is a relatively small coeducational higher in institution with an enrollment range of 5,000-5,999 students, with an admission rate range of 10-20% making it a highly selective institution. BU offers courses and programmes for higher education degrees such as Bachelor, Masters, and Postgraduate degrees, in several disciplines, with admission open to both national and international students based on entrance examinations, and past academic grades or records. With a mission of “preparing people for useful and joy-filled lives, fostering friendship with God, whole-person development, Bible-based values, and selfless service in accordance with the Seventh-day Adventist mission to the world”, BU has earned an Award as the Best Private University in Africa, and overtime is expanding new frontiers.

Admission Requirement Into Babcock University

The University offers admission for: JUPEB A-level, Pre Degree, Undergraduate, and Postgraduate degrees.
JUPEB A-level Admission:
BU offers admission into their foundation programmes in collaboration with Joint Universities Preliminary Examinations Board (JUPEB). The program runs for one (1) year after which successful candidates are admitted into 200 level in any of the listed University programs.

Undergraduate Degree Admission:

Prospective applicants are informed of the sale of the JAMB registration form, and it’s closure on the 6th February 2018. Applicants are advised to register before the closing date, and candidates with their e-pin can register at Babcock University Registry, and also write their examination on the school’s campus. Prospective students are also to note that admission process for applicants who do not get to the prescribed JAMB cut-off will not be reviewed. General admission requirement into BU is a minimum of 5 Credits in SSCE/NECO/GCE examination or their equivalent at no more than 2 sittings, and no more than 1 sitting for Medicine and Surgery applicants. Candidates below the age of 16 are also advised not to apply.

Pre Degree Admission:

BU also offers pre-degree programs designed to prepare students for admission into courses of their choice. Admission into this program is dependent on the good performance of the applicant, and applicants must have passed the prescribed JAMB cut-off for that current year. A minimum of 5 O’level Credits relevant to the chosen field of study is also required. The program runs for two semesters, after which successful students will be admitted into 100 level. Sale of the pre degree application form begins normally around June/July for each year and ends in September.
