About University of Abuja
The University of Abuja also regarded as “Uniabuja” was established by the Nigerian Federal Government in 1988, but academic work didn’t start until 1990 with the matriculation of its first students. Activities at the University was first carried out in a temporary site, called the “mini-campus” in Gwagwalada with just three blocks, and in the same year, the university was allocated a large expanse of land along Abuja- Airport road where it now has its main campus. Currently, the University has two campuses, with academic activities slowly moving to its permanent site along Abuja road. The Administrative block and the Faculty of Arts are on the main campus while other office buildings, faculties, lecture halls, halls of residence and science laboratories are on the mini-campus.
With a mission “to provide instructional, research and public service programmes appropriate to a University of high standing that guarantees academic excellence and to operate a strong and virile distance learning component that ensures equal educational access to a large constituency”, the University boasts as been the premier university in the Nation’s capital as it is currently undergoing infrastructural and academic development to actualize the dream’s of the current Vice-Chancellor (VC) in becoming one of the best universities in the country and the world.
Uniabuja is located at Airport Road, Abuja, Nigeria. The University encompasses ten (10) faculties, with a total undergraduate population of well over 14,000 students. Uniabuja also has a School of Postgraduate Studies, which run Postgraduate programmes in several disciplines, a Distance Learning and Continuing Education Institute, and other Research centers. Currently ranking as the 28th best university in the country and 6,190 in the world according to the 4IC.org ranking, the University of Abuja is shifting focus to devote more effort and resources into new areas of cutting-edge research by partnering with International and National stakeholders.

Admission Requirements Into the University of Abuja
Admission Requirements for Undergraduates
Candidates wishing to gain admission into the University of Abuja for a first-degree programme must satisfy the following;
For 100 Level:
Applicants must possess SSCE or other equivalents with Credit in 5 subjects including Maths and English in no more than two sittings.
Must have an acceptable score in JAMB or a Diploma, NCE with at least lower credit.
For 200 Level (Direct Entry)
Applicants must possess two A’ level passes or other equivalent and also credits in three subjects in SSCE, or a Diploma, NCE with at least an upper credit.
Prospective candidates are also advised to note that admission requirements and its process differ among faculties and departments.
Admission Requirements for Postgraduates
Uniabuja offers courses leading to the award of Postgraduate Diploma Certificate, Masters, and Doctorate degrees. The general admission requirements include the following:
Attainment of O’ level results with at least 5 credits in Maths and English and three other subjects at no more than two sittings.
Candidates applying for masters degree programmes must obtain at least second class lower division in the relevant discipline.
Prospective candidates for Ph.D. programmes must obtain a minimum average score of 60% in their Master’s degree.
Candidates seeking admission into the Postgraduate Diploma programme must possess a University degree with a minimum grade of a third class, or HND grade with a minimum of Lower Credit.
Candidates are also advised to prepare for an oral screening or interview as well as a written examination.
