Osun State University was established in 2006, Built by Osun state government in 2006.

About Osun State University

Osun State University, fondly called ‘UNIOSUN’ was established by the administration of the former governor of the state, Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola in 2006, and runs a multi-campus (subsidiary) system, consisting of six campuses located across the six geopolitical zones in the state. It has its campuses in Osogbo, Ikire, Okuku, Ifetedo, Ipetu Ijesha and Ejibo, housing the colleges of Health Science, Humanities and Culture, Social Science and Management, Law, Education and Agriculture respectively. UNIOSUN is recognized as the 80th University in Nigeria, and the 30th state University following accreditation by the National Universities Commission to run undergraduate and postgraduate programmes.

The institution runs a collegiate system and has about six (6) colleges offering departmental courses in various disciplines, in addition to a number of centres and schools. They include:

Osun State University Admission Requirements

Admission requirements are averagely selective and depend on the courses available. The University offers admission for both Undergraduate and Postgraduate programmes.


UNIOSUN Admission Requirements For Undergraduates

100 Level Entry Students:

  • Applicants must possess a minimum of five (5) credit passes in SSCE/GCE O’LEVEL/NECO/NABTEB or equivalents at no more than two (2) sittings obtained in subjects relevant to the proposed field of study. The 5 credits must compulsorily be in Mathematics, English and 3 other related subjects.

  • In addition, applicants must register, sit for and attain the prescribed cut-off mark (usually 200) in UTME, and also prepare for a screening process organized by the school.



200 Level (Direct-entry) Students:

  • Applicants must have a National Diploma, which should come from a recognized institution in Nigeria.

  • Applicants are required to have a Nigerian Certificate in Education (NCE) in a subject(s) related to the proposed field of study with a minimum of one unit and two (2) advanced level passes.


Osun State University Admission Requirements For Masters

  • Applicants are required to have a first degree from a University recognized by the Senate of UNIOSUN in a related field of study. A Postgraduate Diploma in a related field from a University recognized by the school would also be an added advantage.State University


Osun State University Admission Requirements For Ph.D.

  • Candidates applying for the Doctor of Philosophy degree programmes must possess a master's degree with a minimum score of not less than 60% or a cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 3.5 on a 5-point scale, in a relevant field of study from a University recognized by the Senate of UNIOSUN.

  • Applicants are to also forward transcripts of their academic records, three (3) referee’s reports, with (2) preferably acquainted with the candidate's academic works.

  • Applicants are also advised to prepare for an interactive session with the school of postgraduate studies.


Applications for the 2017/2018 academic session are currently closed, but UNIOSUN is open to inquiries on admission details, process and inquiries, and sale of application forms into Undergraduate, Masters and PhD programmes.

Osun State University School Fees

The University has released school fees schedule for the 2017/2018 academic for fresh students. As a state university, tuition fees are relatively high, and students are warned to make proper inquiries before making payments. Tuition fees asides other miscellaneous fees can be found below:


  • Non-science: N130,000

  • Science/Engineering/Management and Social Sciences: N155,000

  • Nursing/Law/Public Health: N195,000
