About Ajayi Crowther University

ACU as the University is fondly called is a private university in Oyo State. It was established by the Supra Diocesan Board (West) of the church of Nigeria and has its origins in the defunct CMS training institution, Abeokuta and the defunct St Andrews College, Oyo. In 1999, the request to establish the university was granted by the church of Nigeria and after satisfying rigorous criteria prescribed by the National Universities Commission (NUC), the university was granted the license to operate as a private University in Nigeria on 7 January 2005. The University is named after Late Samuel Ajayi Crowther, the first African Bishop who first translated the bible in Yoruba, and seeks to be a top-class institution in the pursuit of knowledge and scholarship through teaching and exemplary service to humanity.

Ajayi Crowther University Faculties and Courses Offered

Offering quite a number of Postgraduate and Undergraduate programmes across several disciplines. The University has five (5) faculties, as follow:

Ajayi Crowther University Admission Requirements

The University has provision for pre-degree, foundation, undergraduate, part-time and postgraduate programmes in all of the faculties listed above. Admission requirements across these levels differ considerably. Here are some of them.

Admission Requirements For Pre-degree and Foundation

• Candidates seeking admission into the University for pre-degree are expected to have a minimum of three (3) credit level passes in SSCE/GCE O’level at no more than two sittings, and on successful completion of the programme will be eligible to gain admission into 100 level, provided that you pass UTME for that year.

• Applicants seeking admission into the foundation programme at the University are expected to have a minimum of five (5) credit level passes in SSCE/GCE O’level at no more than two sittings, may be admitted into 200 level after successful completion of the programme.

Admission Requirements For Undergraduates

100 level students:

• Applicants must possess a minimum of five (5) credit passes in SSCE/GCE O’LEVEL/NECO/NABTEB or equivalents at no more than two (2) sittings obtained in subjects relevant to the proposed field of study. The 5 credits must compulsorily be in Mathematics, English and 3 other related subjects.

200 level students (Direct- entry):

In addition to having the above requirements, you may also be required to;  

• Have a minimum of two (2) A level passes in subjects related to the proposed field of study.  Other requirements may be found in the JAMB brochure.

Admission Requirements For Postgraduates

Ajayi Crowther University has provision for postgraduate programmes, specifically, Masters and Postgraduate diploma degree programmes across the faculties of Humanities, Management Sciences and Natural Sciences. As a prospective candidate seeking admission in any of these levels, here are some of the requirements.

• A minimum of five (5) O’level passes in English, Mathematics and any other three.

• A bachelor’s degree from the University, or one recognized by the school with a minimum of a second class lower division for masters, and third class division for a postgraduate diploma.
