About Niger Delta University This University popularly called ‘NDU’ is a higher institution of learning solely funded by the Bayelsa State Government; Established in 2000 and built by the then Governor of the state Chief DSP Alamieyeseigha, the University has its campuses scattered at strategic locations in the State. They include, the Main campus in Amassoma also called Gloryland Campus, a College of Health Sciences Campus in Wilberforce Island, and a Satellite Campus in the State Capital, Yenagoa which houses the Faculty of Law. Academic activities started at the institution in 2001 and the University has since grown from an intake of over 1,000 students to a thriving population of more than 10,000 students. The University presently has quite a number of faculties and academic departments which can be found below. Niger Delta University Faculties And Courses Offered Currently, NDU has twelve faculties and a total of 44 programmes out of which 36 have gained full accreditation status by NUC and lead to officially recognized degrees. Niger Delta University Admission Requirements The University offers admission into undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in almost all of the faculties listed above. Admission requirements across these levels differ slightly. Here are some of them: Admission Requirements For Undergraduates It’s important to note that to be considered for admission into the University, you are expected to have the following: A minimum of five (5) credit passes in SSCE/GCE O’LEVEL/NECO/NABTEB or equivalents at no more than two (2) sittings obtained in subjects relevant to the proposed field of study. The 5 credits must compulsorily be in Mathematics, English and 3 other related subjects. The minimum cut-off mark in UTME organized by JAMB, which is usually 180. In addition to the above requirements, you are also expected to meet the departmental requirements for your preferred course. Admission Requirements For Postgraduates As stated earlier, the University only has provision for postgraduate diploma, masters and PhD programmes across its faculties. A prospective applicant must be a graduate of a recognized University with the following requirements: Graduate certificate with verifiable grades and required grade point average. Academic transcript from University attended. SSCE or equivalent results NYSC discharge certificate. Also, in addition to the requirements above, you are also expected to meet the departmental requirements for your programme of course and preferred course.
