<Funny Story Competition> First Visit to My Village in Ekiti

Mine is really an embarrassing one,My name is Olushanu i am native of Ode Ekiti

Prior to My travelling, i have never been to my home town {at that time} but i have stories , stories of where my grandfather house is situated, our farmland etc.

I embark on the journey sometimes around september with my room mate and closest friend, 2008 from Ilorin where i was based then, i planned to send a week in the village, staying , taking a reservation i an Hotel {a cheap one} , as we are student .

Unfortunately we act like the student we are, we did not put somethings into consideration, we arrive in the town late in the night and we miss our way.

Thinking i can get help with the things i have been told about my grandfather house , and if help come , the person will help us with a cheap hotel to rest our head for that night.

I call a passerby and i told him my name , i also told him my aim , also where i was told my grandfather house is situated. Alas! there is nothing of such, the man quickly came to what i would call a stupid conclusion and assume we are petty thieves.

We were lucky some fellow came around who appear to be literate and after explaining ourselves, he was sympathetic.

We ask for an Hotel and we were told the only one we can get is a Motel which is far from where we are, we were escorted there and we were told the price per night is 700 naira as at then.

Checking in, we got more than we bargain for. As a student then, my toilet is not as bad as that, the room was begging to be swept, the Televison is working but that was after the attendant have hit it hard on the side. a whole lot of this were not just in place.

We came to a conclusion that the following day, we have to return back to school.

I have since learn my lesson, when going on Holiday, know your fact, arrive in day time{if possible} for hotel reservation, ask for help you before embarking of any journey which you an hotel will be needed

If I have made my reservation early, i would have know the type of hotel i am going to, i would have been giving a phone number which i would have call when we miss our way
