<Funny Story Competition> An Interesting Trip to Obudu

I’ve had my share of fun travelling, it was some time in November last year that I took some two weeks off from work on my annual leave to relax and I thought, what’s best to do in two weeks? Then I said travel to at least two nice places in Nigeria. After a long thought about my destination, I decided on Abeokuta Ogun State and Obudu in Cross River State. I had a nice two days in Abeokuta climbing Olumo rock, then I left for Obudu and I could only get through calabar which I consider a familiar rout. I got to Calabar 6:40pm and I didn’t want to sleep in calabar so I sought for a vehicle going to Ikom where I intend to spend the night and cut my next day trip to Obudu short. Luckily I got a car going to Ogoja, I joined them and told the driver I was gonna stop at Ikom.

We got to Ugep the driver stopped and opened his bonnet, I don’t know what went wrong but it took him about 35minutes to get us back on the road. About 30 minutes before we get to Ikom I fell into a deep sleep as I only remember telling a fellow passenger that the driver has really tried to make it ths fast and that we will be in Ikom shortly. I woke up shortly and asked the driver to stop thinking I’ve arrived Ikom and I don’t think thr is light in ths town because every wr was dark, the driver quarreled that I should hv told him earlier that I was going to stop here than shouting at him to stop exactly wr I shouted for him to stop. I got off the car and couldn’t see any house all I saw was big trees, I decided to create a destination on my phone map from my location to Ikom to my surprise I’ve traveled an hour thirty minutes away from Ikom, I shouted what!! Were am I?

Minutes later I discovered that I was at okpogriya (hope I got the spelling right) few minutes drive to Ogoja and an hour drive to Benue State and Ebonyi state as well. I stood by the road trying to get a vehicle going to Ogoja or back to Ikom, I was all alone by the road with the time standing at 11:48pm.I stood by the road for two more hours and no vehicle would stop for me, I got tired and cautioned myself to leave the road for my safety.

I then walked a little away from wr I was and saw an open end shop like building, I went in thr and sat not knowing what to do next coupled with my stretched stressed trip I slept off on so many fearful thoughts, few minutes later I’d been tapped from my sweet sleep to a horrible masquerade, no it was an old woman asking me to leave her shop she wants to sweep to enable her arrange her shop for the day with nothing less than 20 people starring at me and talking to themselves in pity for me or fear for who I was. My people I’d slept in the market deep into 8:15am… What an interesting day I will never forget and I love traveling
