HauntedHotel Entry 29: Behind the Door

As I stood in front of Room 101c, I found I had lost my nerve. I wasn’t as confident about entering this room as I was few minutes ago. When I had called Simon few minutes earlier to inform him about the room, I had sounded like a tough guy who could take on anything. Then, he had ruined my courage with his stupid stories again.
“Guy,†I said when I called him, “I stepped out of town for a few days and guess what? I just got to my hotel and they booked me in Room 101câ€.
I knew Simon was highly superstitious. Months back, he told me about this mysterious hotel room he had heard about while he was at the office. Stories had been told about this particular room, scary ones. The room popped in various hotels and most of its occupants were never known to return. Those who did manage to return were always changed, they never seemed the same as when they entered. It was how the story was told anyway. Simon was a sucker for these things and as he repeated the stories to me, he looked very scared.
“These stories are told in hushed tones for a reason,†he said. “For fear that the thing inside would not come out in wrath and be unleashed on the world.â€
I had laughed when he had told me the stories.
“Simon, you are too damned superstitious,†I chucked. “Calm down, these are ghost stories for children.â€
So when I told him I was booked in the room, I could feel the veins in his head bulge. He was delirious over the phone.
“See, Sam, this thing is no joke. Get out of that place fast. Don’t even bother to relax for a second. Just run!!!â€. The fear and alarm in his voice was very audible.
I just laughed it off and went ahead to tell him I was staying and hung up before he could say anything else.
Now, standing in front of the room, I didn’t feel so sure of my confidence. But I consoled myself that I was just being silly and letting Simon’s nonsense mess with me. I flicked through my antlers and wrapped my tentacles round the key-card and pushed it in.
I was immediately sucked into the room. And I saw it, the silhouette of the most feral beast of all, a human. I had heard tales of humans and even seen pictures of them but this was the first time I was seeing one close up. They were mangled beings. They had limbs, and just four for that matter. Disgusting and frightening creatures. They even had hair which was a bloody taboo.
In front of me, however, stood the most frightening specimen of all. His hair was coloured green, his skin was pale like the colour of milk and he wore a red suit. His back was turned to me and on the floor beside him, lay a black duffel bag.
I shivered. My eyes grew twice their size. My antlers rattled. My tentacles, all sixteen of them, vibrated horribly. I couldn’t glide across the floor and I was stuck where I stood. I has terribly scared and horrified
Then, he turned to face me and with his chrome-plated teeth, greeted me with the most sickening smile ever. And he said those words I can never forget in my life: “I can’t wait to show you my toysâ€.
