‘There’s this 1.3million Naira television I saw’

‘Where?’

‘NEXT Mall’

This is a typical conversation between two kids marvelling over a new TV set, but the high point is the mall where it was seen – at least for me. People go to malls not just to hang out or shop, but sometimes for pure entertainment.
In Abuja, on Ahmadu Bello Way, near Jabi, is the NEXT Mall, administratively titled NEXT Cash N’ Carry, but nobody calls it that. The mall has everything, thanks to its wholly-owned subsidiaries,

everything includes: home improvement materials, cosmetics, clothes, liquor, sporting wares, electronics – the list goes on, all in their sections. Seen as ‘not your regular (boring) store’ by most young-shoppers, you can say it is a happening place, and you won’t be wrong. There is a food court with different dishes, from regular rice to Chinese rice, and other sauces, so you can camp out of your house here.

The mall prides itself as the largest of its kind in Nigeria – with 10,000 sg. metres you can boldly say that (do not quote me, thank you) – so in as much as you can come here and shop, think about the

exercise too, it would be a good one. If you like snacks – biscuits, candy etc. – there is a whole aisle specially for you, feel free to spend time there packing up for the year, in as many varieties as you need.

There is more than enough parking space in the compound, as you should expect of any mall this big, so by all means drive your car here – if you’re shopping big too, no doubt, as you will need to carry your new stuff home. Cabs are also on hand nearby, to help you with your new stuff if you’re not providing your own transport.
