Lake Effi

This natural lake lies at Sabagreia, in Kolokuma/Opokuma local government area of Bayelsa State, and that is where the popular fishing festival takes place. it’s approximately 2km square area and the lake is believed to be self-purifying as it  clears every fallen piece of debris to its banks, leaving its entire surface pristine at all times. The lake is also a top spot in Bayelsa for fishing as it is said to periodically provide fish in great quantities as food for local people. When this occurs, it is done in a big celebration festival as people collect
the huge fishes lying around for collection. Even more astonishing, is the fact the lake is brimming with crocodiles that do not harm humans during the festival. The locals visit this lake from time to time for sight seeing and fishing.
