Blue Elephant Restaurant.

Blue Elephant Restaurant. was established in , Built by in .

Quiet, cozy restaurants seem to be on the rise now, thanks to people who like homely environments – probably so they can gossip in peace – while enjoying freshly cooked food with not too many people in attendance. Irrespective of the city you are in, you are sure to find one like this, if you search well enough. In Port Harcourt, you should find Blue Elephant, but you might have to search for quite a bit.

Known – or not known – for not displaying even a signboard indicating itself, Blue Elephant is located on King Kperekule Road, in the GRA Phase II. The restaurant is the main attraction, and it is small (contains only a ‘cozy’ number), but has a nice ambience about inside. There is a swimming pool and bar behind – for only customers, the pool is not public – where the real evening business happens.

You will find all the major drinks here – and you may get to taste a new one too – so this is the place you want to discuss ‘after-work matters’. The bar is shaded and is a comfortable distance away from the pool, so if you are hydrophobic do not worry, you are safe; there are also enough chairs to have a mini-outing.

Cakes (and pastries) are also on sale at Blue Elephant. The restaurant has a bakery in addition that supplies cakes in many flavours and you can make your order here as well. If you love Thai/Filipino/Asian food, you should come visit Blue Elephant, it is operated by Filipinos and their menu is the toast of everybody in Port Harcourt and environs who have visited.

It all sounds much ‘coded’, right? If you are on King Kperekule Road, the only way to know you are at Blue Elephant is that there is a blue sculpture of an elephant on the gate of the restaurant (unique, right?) That is the sort of stuff that the restaurant is made of – cool, calm elegance – and they show it off in so many ways, indoors and out.

If you are new to Port Harcourt, let me give you a small tip: get a ‘taxi guy’. That way if you have to go anywhere, he can come pick you up and take you there, that way you don’t have to suffer traffic, which is also the best way to get to Blue Elephant. If you want to drive here, by all means do, there is a ‘cozy’ parking lot waiting for you.
