The Baturiya sanctuary is a wetland area in Guri local government area of Jigawa State, where varieties of birds across the globe are gathered and it is naturally blessed with moist atmosphere conducive to birds. It covers an area of 320 square kilometres and attracts between 1, 500 and 2,000 tourists yearly from around the world. The sanctuary houses over three hundred and seventy-eight species of migratory birds mostly from Europe.
The bird sanctuary is located at Baturiya, Kiri Kassama and Guri local governments. The Baturiya birds’ sanctuary has become an
international tourist attraction as evident by the visit of Prince Charles of England.
