Tincan Island Access Road, Apapa
Tin Can Island Port was established in 1977.
Built out of the need to accommodate the high volume of import and export that resulted in serious congestion in the Apapa Port during the oil boom era, this is a favored port for a lot of reasons.
This is a very safe location.
Before heading to Tin Can Island Port, here are some helpful things to take along with you:
The port has 5 terminal operators and so handles diversified cargoes with each terminal operator specializing in either handling wet and dry bulk cargoes with lease terms of 10 years, box cargoes (containerization) with lease terms of 15 years, container cargoes with lease terms of 10 years, Roll-On-Roll-Off services with lease terms of 15 years, or Build, Operate and Transfer (BOT) services with lease terms of 15 years. It is well-equipped and has up-to-date modern equipment for clearing cargoes.
One favored feature of this port is that owing to its terminals being operated independently, it has a quick turnaround time for vessels. It also features regular sea patrol of all anchorage, jetties and fair way buoys with the able assistance of the Marine Police and the Nigerian Navy.
