Mai Idris Alooma Polytechnic is a State-Goverment owned tertiary institution located at Geidam , Yobe State, Nigeria. It currently has four faculties which are : School of Science, School of General Studies, School of Engineering and Enviromental Studies and School of Administrative and Business Studies.

History of Mai Idris Alooma Polytechnic

Immediately after the creation of Yobe State, the then Yobe state Government appereciated the need to improve the conditions and quality of education, particularly technical education in the state. In consonance with this thinking, a decision was taken towards the end of 1992 to establish a Yobe State polytechnic and to be located in Damaturu, the State Capital. While necessary facilities and personnel were being put in place for the take-off of the state polytechnic, the federal government notified the state government it’s decision to establish a federal polytechnic Damaturu was establish in may 1993.
