Cross River National Park is one of the richest areas of tropical rainforest in West Africa. It is made up of 2 sections; the Oban which was established in 1988 and the Okwangwo which was established in 1991. The WWF (World Wide Fund for Nature), UK played a vital role in the establishment of this great reserve. The Cross River National Park (CRNP) was eventually established by Federal Ministry Government Decree in 1991, with the Cross River gorilla chosen as the theme animal. You might have recognized the name from its affiliations with the prized gorillas.
Tourists are welcome to visit the reserve and stay at the Kanyang tourists village. Attractions include the Kwa Falls, Kwa river, the Agbokim falls and the various species of animals in the forest, especially the Gorillas.
