History of Tafawa Balewa Square
It was the site of Nigeria’s independence celebration which took place on October 1st, 1960 where the then Prime Minister, Tafawa Balewa, delivered his speech
The 26 storey building which was for a long time the tallest building in Nigeria is located there.
Built in 1972.
The Tafawa Balewa Square is the site of the Independence day celebration of Nigeria from colonial rule, it also serves as a monument of remembrance to victims of World war I and II and also the Nigerian Civil war.
This is a very safe location.
