Covenant University fondly called CU was authorized a Private University by the National Universities Commission board, Nigeria (NUC) on the 12th February 2002. UI is a growing dynamic vision- birthed and vision-driven University founded on a Christian mission ethos and committed to pioneering excellence at the cutting edge of learning. CU’s core values includes: Spirituality, Possibility Mentality, Capacity Building, Integrity, Responsibility, Diligence and Sacrifice; with a vision of been; “a leading world-class Christian mission University committed to raising a new generation of leaders in all fields of Human endeavour’, and a mandate “to revolutionize the educational landscape of Nigeria”, CU aims at building a world-class University that will be proud of Africa as well as take its place among the Ivy league Universities on the global platform.
Covenant University Faculties
CU offers courses and programs leading to officially recognized higher education degrees such as bachelor degrees, master degrees, and a doctorate degree in several disciplines. The courses offered at the institution are grouped based on the colleges available. At CU Faculties may also be called colleges. The institution boasts of four (4) Colleges and a School of Postgraduate Studies. The college’s and their respective departments include:

Composed of 2 schools: School of Business (SBUS) and School of Social Sciences (SSSC). There are six (6) departments and ten (10) programmes.The departments include:

College of Leadership Development Studies
Composed of 2 schools: School of Human Resource Development (SHRD) and School of Leadership Development (SLDV). There are four departments and six programmes:
Department of Political Science and International Relations: Offers programmes in International relations, Policy, Strategic Studies and Political Science.
Department of Language and General studies: Offers programmes in English and French.
Department of Leadership Studies: Offers certificate and diploma programmes in leadership.
Department of Psychology.

This school offers admission into the 31 programmes available.
It’s important to note that all the programmes offered at CU are accredited by the National Universities Commission (NUC) and other relevant professional bodies.
Covenant University Admission Requirements
Admission Requirements For Undergraduates:
Applicants must obtain a minimum entry level requirement of 5 Credit level pass in 5 subjects from either SSCE/GCE/O’Level/NECO/NABTEB or its equivalent at not more than two sittings. The subjects passed must include a compulsory credit in Mathematics and English. Applicants hoping to gain admission into CU are to also note that there are other requirements for the various colleges and/or department. Candidates must also sit for the compulsory UTME examination of the Joint Admission and Matriculation Commission, and must have attained the prescribed cut-off mark.
In addition to the above, Covenant University conducts a screening exercise for all candidates seeking admission into the University. Candidates who do not pass this screening will not be admitted into the institution.

Admission Requirements For Postgraduates:
There are general and specific admission requirements for admission into the postgraduate programmes of Covenant University, in which applicants hoping to be considered for admission must satisfy. Candidates shall complete the application form on the University portal and ensure that the information is submitted accurately. Applicants are also expected to provide all relevant documents, including certificates of degree and/ or diplomas, transcripts, reference letters, e.t.c. Applicants who are Nigerian citizens shall, in addition, provide their National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) discharge, exemption, or exclusion certificate.
Masters Degree Programme
To be considered for admission into any of the master's degree programmes of CU, applicants must have:
Bachelor’s degree in relevant discipline with at least a second class upper division from CU or any other University recognized by the Senate.
Postgraduate Diploma (PGD) with a minimum CGPA of 3.5 in addition to a Bachelor’s degree (minimum of third class division) or HND (minimum of lower credit in a relevant discipline).
Applicants with relevant professional qualifications such as ACA, ICAN, e.t.c, who do not have either BSc. degree or HND would need to obtain the relevant PGD before applying for masters into any of the professional programmes.
PhD Degree Programme
The following must be possessed by applicants hoping to gain admission into any of the PhD programmes at Covenant University:
Bachelor’s and Master's degree in the relevant discipline obtained from Covenant University or any other University recognized by the Senate.
A minimum CGPA of 4.0 on a 5.0 point scale in the Master’s programme to qualify for a direct entry into any of the PhD programmes.
Applicants with CGPA of 3.50-3.99 on a 5.0 point scale or equivalent in the master’s programme may be considered for M.Phil/ PhD programme.
It’s important to also note that applicants with a professional masters degree will not be considered until they have obtained a masters degree in a related discipline.

School Fees
The University has faced a lot of backlash over the high cost of the tuition fee, as it seems to be increasing before the start of a new academic session. For the 2017/2018 academic session, tuition fee at CU is estimated at a whopping sum of over N817,500. This is said to be the minimum expected tuition fee, as it varies across departments. The least amount been N817,500, an increased amount of N865,500 for most science courses like Microbiology, Physics, and Mathematics and N882,500 for Engineering courses.
Covenant University Rules And Regulations
CU is known to uphold ethics and morals very strictly. The institution frowns at any, and all acts of indiscipline, and indecency, as a result, strict penalties such as rustication or expulsion are issued to students caught in nefarious acts in the University. A more detailed description of the University’s rules and regulations are contained in its handbook, but here are some things that the University doesn’t condone.

Notable Milestones
Hebron Startup Labs; Nigeria’s first incubation hub in a tertiary institution.
Formally established in 2017, it was developed to help produce more entrepreneurs (regardless of their academic level) from within the institution rather than just having certificates after graduation and contributing to the Nation’s unemployment rate.
In 2017 Covenant University graduates were revealed to be the most employed graduates by Job search websites such as Stutern, Jobberman, and BudgIT.
