About Babcock University Babcock University popularly called BU was named after David C. Babcock, an American missionary who pioneered the works of the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Nigeria. Babcock a co-educational Seventh-day Adventist Church University was formerly established as a senior college (Adventist College of West Africa) in September 1959.
