History of Jaekel Museum

Named after the Late Francis Jaekel, a former superintendent of the corporation, who retired after almost thirty years serving the corporation. Built in 1898, Jeakel House was formerly the residence of the General Manager before it became a senior staff rest house. The building which is described by many as a classic colonial architecture has been standing for over 100 years and it was restored in 2010 by professor John Godwin as the Legacy and Railway Museum.

About Jaekel Museum

It is a railway and Legacy museum archiving images of personalities, places and historical events in pre and post independent Nigeria, from 1940s through 1970s.

Jaekel Museum is located at the South-West part of Nigeria. This region has just two seasons which is the dry and rainy season. The rainy season comes from the month of May till early August while the dry season comes from the month of October till April. Usually, between the month of December and February Harmattan come along.
