History of Awolowo's prison home
Lekki town where the museum is loacted is a misnomer of the name of the Portuguese slave merchant, Mr Lecqi, who settled in the town in the 18th century.
The detention center for Awolowo in 1962 was Mr Lecqi's house before his death.

The museum aims to take you on a walk through his prison journey. After the tour, there is a beach behind where you can bask in the sun's radiance as you ponder the struggle of one of the nation's founding fathers.
