History of The Nigerian Television Authority

The Nigerian Television Authority began as the Western Nigerian Television Services (WNTV), it first aired to citizens of Nigeria and Africa on 31st October, 1959. The three regional governments that existed in Nigeria set up the Nigeria Television Service in early 1962. After 12 states were created in Nigeria, more television were formed and in 1976, all television stations were taken over by the Federal Government under decree 24 of 1977.The Nigerian Television Authority was born as the only body responsible for television broadcasting in Nigeria.
