This was established in 1860to support its slave trade activities.

  • Oshodi was one of the first beneficiaries of the urban boom that occurred in the 19th Century due to the construction of railway lines between Lagos and the North by the British led government, for the transit of workers across the country

  • The demolition was very controversial and negotiations between the State Government and the traders took almost a year before it could be resolved.

Built by Colonial Government in 1860. Demolished in 2015.

Located in the busy and rowdy Oshodi area, the former location for this market, Owonifari, has been demolished and is being turned to a bus terminal while the marketers have been relocated to a newly built market complex in Isopakodowo area of Oshodi
