About Kogi State University Kogi State University also called ‘KSU’ is a state-owned higher institution of learning, established in 1999 by Prince Abubakar Audu. The University was renamed after him in 2002 but reverted back to initial name in 2003. Academic activities started in April 2000 with just six faculties, with the addition of two more, including the Faculty of Medicine and Faculty of Education in subsequent years. It also runs pre-degree and diploma programmes admitting successful candidates into full-time programmes. Most of the courses offered are accredited by the National Universities Commission (NUC), and they lead to official recognized degrees such as Diploma, Bachelors, Masters, and Doctorate degrees. Although not popular, the University has been rated as one of the best In Africa, with some of its departments being ranked by Nigerian professional bodies as the best in the Country.
