About Kwara State University This University, also called ‘KWASU’ is a state-owned and governed higher institution, established by the administration of the former Governor of the State, Dr Bukola Saraki in 2009. It is the 77th University to be registered by the National Universities Commission (NUC) and the 95th University to be recognized in Nigeria. The University also has three (3) campuses located at strategic locations in the state. They include Malete (the main campus), Ilesha-Baruba, and Osi-opin. The University offers admission for both Undergraduate and Postgraduate programmes. KWASU Admission Requirements For Undergraduates 100 Level Entry Students: Applicants must possess a minimum of three (3) credit passes in SSCE/GCE O’LEVEL/NECO/NABTEB or equivalents at no more than two (2) sittings obtained in subjects relevant to the proposed field of study. The 5 credits must compulsorily be in Mathematics, English and 3 other related subjects. In addition, applicants must register, sit for and attain the prescribed cut-off mark (usually 200) in UTME, and also prepare for a screening process organized by the school. 200 Level (Direct-entry) Students: Applicants must have a National Diploma, which should come from a recognized institution in Nigeria. Applicants are required to have a Nigerian Certificate in Education (NCE) in a subject(s) related to the proposed field of study with a minimum of one unit and two (2) passes. KWASU Admission Requirements For Masters Applicants are required to have a first degree from a University recognized by the Senate of KWASU in a related field of study. A Postgraduate Diploma in a related field from a University recognized by the school would also be an added advantage. Kwara State University Admission Requirements For PhD. Candidates applying for the Doctor of Philosophy degree programmes must possess a master's degree with a minimum score of not less than 60% or a cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 3.5 on a 5-point scale, in a relevant field of study from a University recognized by the Senate of KWASU. Applicants are to also forward transcripts of their academic records, three (3) referee’s reports, with (2) preferably acquainted with the candidate's academic works. Applicants are also advised to prepare for an interactive session with the school of postgraduate studies.
