Catholic Mission Street, Lagos Island
City Hall was established in 1900 to serve as the Local Government Secretariat of the past British Lagos Colony. It is situated in the centre of the Lagos Business District. The City was the base of political and administrative duties in the state at the time Lagos served as the capital city of Nigeria.
It is the oldest Local Government headquarters in the history of Nigeria. This hall holds great memories of the political, commercial, and cultural story of the old Lagos State.
In March 2007, the City Hall was refurbished to fit the modern standard of architectural designs. Since this renovation was done, the City Hall has been a top site attraction in Lagos State.
Re-modelled and renovated to its present modern look by the Babatunde Fashola administration, it is now a major event centre and tourist attraction.
City Hall is open to local and foreign tourists who want to explore and learn more about Nigerian history.
City Hall is open every day of the week except Sundays.
This is a very safe location.
