The Universal Basic Education Commission conducts the Universal Basic Education programme of the federal government which was launched in 1999 by then President Olusegun Obasanjo. UBE as it is popularly known, is a reform programme aimed at providing greater access to quality basic education throughout Nigeria through ensuring an uninterrupted access to 9-year formal education (6 year primary and 3 year junior secondary) by providing free and compulsory basic education for every child of school-going age.Safety
