About The National Primary Health Care Development Agency

The National Primary Health Care Development Agency (NPHCDA) is a division under Nigeria’s Federal Ministry of Health that has an obligation to improve Nigeria's primary health care policy and help local government areas to enforce them. The Agency aims to improve quality of life of Nigerians by control preventable diseases,improve access to basic health services and improve quality of care.

History of The National Primary Health Care Development Agency

The development of primary health care began between 1986 and swift progress was made between that time and 1992 and as a result Nigeria was ranked high on the list of nations to have developed the quality of life of her people through primary health care. Following the approval of a notable WHO team (Decree 29 of 1992), the National Primary Health care Development Agency was founded. In 2007, it fused with the National Programme on Immunization (NPI).
