The Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission was established under the power sector act of 2005 to undertake technical and economic regulation of the Nigerian Electricity Supply Industry. The NERC has among its duties; issuance of license to operators and investors, setting and review of electricity tarriffs and development of industry codes and standards.

The Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission was established under the power sector act of 2005 to undertake technical and economic regulation of the Nigerian Electricity Supply Industry. It was officially inaugurated in October 2007 under the lleadership of Dr. Ransome Owan.

Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission is located in Abuja North-Central of Nigeria.Thus, it experiences three weather conditions every year.  This includes a warm, humid rainy season and a blistering dry season.  In between the two, there is a brief interlude of harmattan occasioned by the northeast trade wind, with the main feature of dust haze and dryness. Temperatures can drop to as low as 16 degrees during the harmattan period.
