Named after the late Group Captain Sam Ethnan who was the Commandant of the Ikeja Base, and who died during active duty, this is a base of the air arm of the Nigerian Armed Forces.

The base features military offices for the Nigerian Air Force. It also features housing accommodations for the various military personnel and their families. There are also healthcare centres, religion centres and educational centres for the air force personnels.

It is a serene and quiet place. Apart from the guarantee of safety, one also enjoys the orderliness and abundant military disciple displayed on the base. It is kept clean and noise is kept at a bare minimum. The health centres are also relatively cheaper and less crowded than private and public hospitals respectively.
