The Bayelsa State house government house located at Yenegoa serves as the Official home to the state governor or chief state executive of the state and their families.It is known to have what can be referred to as the most elegant edifice for the Governor's office in the whole nation which comprises of the State governor's office,the deputy state governor's and the administrative office blocks. It is the official venue for events such as the state's executive council meetings,government conferences,swearing in of cabinet members and of course the Governor's official business.It can also be used as receptions and functions hosted by individuals.Bayelsa state was created out of Rivers State on October 1, 1996 by the Sani Abacha's military government. Its name was derived from the first few letters of the names of the major local government areas from which it was formed - Brass LGA (BALGA), Yenagoa (YELGA) and Sagbama (SALGA)
