Alliance Française Port Harcourt was established in 1983.

This is a non-profit French language and cultural centre with a goal to teach French in Port Harcourt, publicize the French culture in Port Harcourt and foster cultural diversity through the promotion of all cultures.

They provide a range of services to promote cultural diversity in Port Harcourt such as organization of cultural events, provision of resources about France and the French speaking community, distance learning to prepare for examinations, and also teach French language. From a few dozens of students, they now teach French Language to more than 1,000 students a year. About 18,000 Nigerian students have been taught French Language since its creation.
It features a resource center with internet access which has all the documents needed for learning outside the classroom. They also organize platforms for rising and upcoming artists and performers to showcase their talents with an aim to stimulate the cultural scene in Port Harcourt.
