Reason For Loving Place

Still on its original site with most of its original buildings still intact, Igbobi College is one of the oldest and most prestigious colleges in Nigeria, having produced many notable figures in the Nigerian professional and political scenery including Olu Falae, Yemi Osinbajo, Babatunde Fashola, Femi Kuti, Ernest Shonekan, Michael Ibru, Teslim Olawale Elias, and many more. It was the first secondary school in Nigeria to provide residence for both pupils and teachers, and land spacious enough to cater for this, as well as providing fields for sport, craft, farm, etc. In this pioneering work, Igbobi paved the way for other schools on the Lagos Island which soon began to look round for spacious ground on the Mainland. One of the greats of old, there was a period the school admitted girls.
