Reason To Recommend Place

Such a heavy premium was placed on good behavior within and outside the school premises that M.G.H.S. became an acronym for “Must Gain High Standard” in character, manners, academics, athletics, etc. The school has carved a niche for herself, by contributing in no small measure to the development of the girl-child as an individual and the nation as a whole. The influence and impact of Methodist Girls' High School has been and is being felt in every department of this country's life over the years.

What To Bring

["Educational materials if you are a new or returning student","Housing necessities if you are a new or returning student","Your ID card in case you need identification proof"]

Why Was It Built?

to give girls such an education that would enable them to contribute in a practical and meaningful way to the stability of family life within the society

Reason For Loving Place

It is a testament to the goodness and solid creation of the school that since inception, MGHS opened her gates wide open to all and sundry, who sought knowledge within her walls, irrespective of their religious inclinations. Thus, the school has contributed a great deal to the education of a large section of generations within and outside the Lagos community and also beyond – Christians, non-Christians, Methodists and non-Methodists alike – thereby, encouraging religious tolerance. It was taken over by the Lagos State Government in 1980 and it saw an explosion in student intake without an improvement in school facilities to optimally cater for these students. In 2001, it was returned to her original owner, Methodist Church Nigeria who set out and succeeded to revert the school back to its glory old days.
