ABOUT
The Bar Beach is a white sand beach in Lagos State, Nigeria. It is located at Victoria Island, Lagos.
Bar Beach, has served a variety of purposes in the History of Nigeria. During the military regime in the 1970s and 1980s, the bar beach served as a public execution centre of the Nigerian Army Firing Squad. Convicted persons were led to the beach where they were executed. One of those persons was the famed serial killer, Lawrence Anini. The Bar Beach was very popular in the 70s and 90s as journalists trooped in to capture each dreadful execution event.
In 2016, the Eco Atlantic City was commissioned by the former governor of Lagos State, Akinwunmi Ambode. However, due to the poor design of the city, it has witnessed several bouts of flooding. The constant flooding of the Eco Atlantic district has led to the destruction of lives and property which has provoked severe criticism by the inhabitants of the state.

The Bar Beach is closed to leisure seekers as construction activities are still ongoing at the site. Also, security personnel guard the entrance and exit points on the perimeter fence to prevent any form of intrusion, or activities that can hinder construction activities at the site.
